Scorpius Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Hi!My old PC is broken and I have to buy a new one.Now I have to decide which CPU/Mainboard I should buy.Is there a special CPU which is outstanding for virtual pinballing? What about an AMD 8320?How many RAM would you suggest? 4GB? 8GB?I think VP and FP should be happy with 4GB, right? But what about forthcoming programs like Unit3D or others?my thoughts till now are:AMD 8320 Asus M5A97 R2.0 Mainboard Sockel AM3+ 4GB DDR3 1600 *(already existing)GeForce GTX650TI 2GB *(already existing) what do you think? anything I should change?
Administrators Dazz Posted April 25, 2014 Administrators Posted April 25, 2014 Even though I have always been a fan of AMD; I would suggest against AMD for our purposes. I highly suggest an Intel i5 with 8-16gb.
Administrators Dazz Posted April 25, 2014 Administrators Posted April 25, 2014 Intel just seems to run VP/VPM much much smoother. I have also run into an issue with 64bit AMD CPU's causing Pi errors with VP.
Scorpius Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 argh! ok, so I have to switch to Intel... which is a little more expensive
adam763 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 8GB should cut it for all but the most intensely animated tables.
Content Provider Itchigo Posted May 10, 2014 Content Provider Posted May 10, 2014 I would suggest 8g. I have 16g, but I like overkill.
