runriot_z28 Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I love my full-size virtual pinball cabinet, but I have been super-annoyed by the backglass monitor reflecting off of the playfield glass. So I researched the subject, and found that there's a 3M material called Advanced Light Control Film that the pinball vendors sell for DMD glare eliminators. However, the DMD monitor is small (I have a DMD glare eliminator as well, and it works beautifully), and I needed a piece big enough to cover a 32" monitor. I searched around, and found some half-baked solutions, but eventually I decided to buy a full 55" x 32" sheet of the 3M material. It worked great! But I have enough left over to do 2 more monitors. I'm putting the other 2 pieces up for sale on Ebay. Just search the title of this post. I'll remove this if/when they sell.
GeorgeH Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Pretty expensive stuff. I saw a price for about a 12 inch square of it for $500.
runriot_z28 Posted February 5, 2025 Author Posted February 5, 2025 I'm asking $300 for each 32" x 17.3" piece. Here's a before/after pic.
CJR_SJC Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 I was investigating this method also. I understand that the film must be installed with its vertical orientation mounted horizontally on the backglass display in order to prevent the reflection, is that what you did? Did you end up selling both pieces? If you did, can you provide a link to where you bought the 3M film? Did you also apply it to the DMD? Thanks for your response!
