Info for beginners.

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

Absolutely new to Vp. I've spent the last 6 years leaning about, and assembling emulation systems for video games, and realized I   love the challenge of  learning and configuring these systems as much as I love playing them.

I spent my youth in arcades and love the sights and sounds of these times. I have as many memories playing pinball games as video games, and I'm looking forward to learning this new hobbie.

Can you please link me to any info I should read first to get going?

Thanks.

There are two ways:
- You install every piece of your installation by hand and bit for bit.
or
- You use a installer like baller installer which installs a lot of pieces at once.
Both versions of installing have advantages.
If you are on a pc I would start to get an "old" installer for vpx only to get the reg stuff and upgrade bit by bit.
There are a few youtube manuals online. watch them all 😀
This is the one, I used:

For Future Pinball, start here:

Follow the included instructions to get setup properly. I have included written Guides that cover pretty much everything. Then start with FP PinEvent tables, as they are the most updated (for physics, lighting, etc), then tables updated for FizX after that, etc:

I also have accompanying videos that can be used as well for reference (but always use the written guides, as they are more up to date).

TerryRed is amazing in the hobby, but I would start here and then follow TerryRed after you download, install and get running baller installer. Baller installer will bet both VPX and Future Pinball installed. After which you will follow TerryRed's response above to update and install his stuff. His tables and tutorials are perfect and easy to follow, but I don't believe they show how to install VPX and Terry has stated a few times he doesn't use the prorgram. VPX has a lot of amazing tables too. Here is the link for Baller Installer.

Good luck.

Oh, I definitely play on VPX, have created on VPX (pup-packs, table mods, DOF, etc), and have created a few video guides for VPX, as well have created for Popper (all the themes and updated java script needed), DOF Config Creator, and numerous other non-FP things over the years. :)

I simply prefer creating on FP now, as it gives me the tools and the results I want.

Sorry, thought I heard you say you only play FP before, wasn't trying to imply anything. Glad to know I was wrong and you do play VPX. I and I'm sure everyone else here is VERY happy you are on FP mostly. Your tables are amazing, to the point I don't play much anything else. I do enjoy workshops tables as well, but your themed ones are just so much fun. I believe my top 5 tables are yours, lol and Im sure once you release MOTU and SH those will be too. :)
