About This File

System files to run 'directB2S' backglasses, usually in combination with Visual Pinball tables.

 

What Stefan Wuehr ('Herweh') started in 2012 continues here.

  • Added full wiki documentation to the new version available here https://github.com/vpinball/b2s-backglass/wiki
  • B2SBackglassServer
    will try to find B2STableSettings.xml in current directory and then installation directory (for some the Tables directory). This extended search is activated in the registry using HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\B2S\B2STableSettingsExtendedPath set to String "1"
    Show table name and cGameName, version and x64 or x86 bitness in settings window.
    Add support for B2SInit.cmd to be called after Backglass is started. It always receives the table name + rom name as 2 parameters. The included B2SInit.cmd calls B2SWindowPunch below.
    The default for "Exact .directb2s match only" is now set to true, if not already set.
    When running on 64 bit, Plugins64 will be used as plugins folder. (Still needs testing!)
  • B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp
    Add file associations to res, directb2s files and file->New to start the B2S_ScreenResIdentifier.
  • B2S_ScreenResIdentifier
    can be started from the B2S settings window, and the settings window is hidden while editing the ScreenRes file.
    can now save the filename it received when starting, or save the global name. (If started with a tablename.res file)
  • B2SWindowPunch
    A new command line app: General window punch routine to cut holes into B2S Backglass Form and make DMD and PuP Windows shine through.

    Usage: B2SWindowPunch "Destination regex" "Cutter Regex"
    Destination and the cutter window string has to be valid regular expressions
    E.g. Cut holes in the "B2S Backglass Server" form using "Virtual DMD" and all "PUPSCREEN" forms as two regular expressions:

    B2SWindowPunch.exe "^B2S Backglass Server$" "^Virtual DMD$|^PUPSCREEN[0-9]+$"


    The Tablename.res file is checked for lines after the background picture like:

    B2SWindowPunch=Other regular expression as destination(s)
    cutter=Other regular expression as cutter(s)
    or:
    B2SWindowPunch=off -> B2SWindowPunch isn't called

The new b2s server is a big step forward. It has more functions, more possibilities. Thanks to Jarre3, who is very active and responding to errors, questions and suggestions - even if they are stupid.
I like to see the backglass server getting better and better. Hope that more ppl would. I hoped more users would support the development by giving feedback and actively trying the betas on their configurations.
