Playing Super Mario Bros. cabinet

I don't know if this is the right forum to post in, but here goes.

 

I have been reading many discussion posts on how to download the ROM and get it working on VPX, VPinMame, etc., and I cannot seem to get this game to work. I get get other tables to load properly, however. I do not know what I am doing wrong, so if I were to uninstall everything, what do I need do download and modify to get it to work?

 

The games I am wanting to load are Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World.

 

Note: Some discussion posts claim solutions that lead to other posts, but please don't do that, because sometimes they lead to dead links and it infuriates me.

Note 2: I also attached a screenshot of the "game info," which says I'm missing a ROM set. I can't find them individually outside of downloads of the ROM itself, and they're all the same download, making it unhelpful. If that's the problem and someone knows how to fix it, please tell me how to fix it.

I would check to make sure that you have MAME set up correctly.

 

Smb3 rom is a NES file.

 

It might be thinking that this is a MAME rom and trying to load it differently.

 

I am only guessing here as I am not on the correct computer to test something out, and I don't have my cabinet yet either to try.

 

Make sure that you have all bios files but if you have tested other NES games and they work, then obviously it is a dodgy rom. I will hook up my arcade PC to this monitor later, and then I can look for the file.

 

You can find the file on internet archive 

 

I just had a look and it is just a NES file, there are no roms such as you are showing in your picture.

it has nothing to do with NES  SMB3 is the correct gottlieb Super Mario Rom namre used for this table!

 

oh, and you're ressurecting an 1 y old thread... i'm pretty sure the issue has been resolved in the meantime

I am a newbie after all, and I did not see the time stamp. A bad habit of mine.

 

I just saw that no one had tried helping him, so a year later at least someone did

Yes, I did indeed find a solution. I needed a different ROM pack. Appreciate the help regardless!

Although I am confused why the file is called smb3 despite the board not using assets from the game whatsoever.
