Headrush69 Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 (edited) Nice work floeschng, looks awesome. I've built my own custom arcade cabinet and have been debating and flipping back and forth over making a decision whether to build a virtua pinball cab now or just go with an ATgames Legend 4K and use OTG. Can I ask a few questions? Ballpark what was your complete cost? (With ot without including PC components) What size main playfield screen did you go with Did you go 4K and or 120MHz main screen Was the tilt bob that much of an upgrade over a digital accelerometer for tilt detection? If there any part you would change or wouldn't use if you did it again What's your favourite table Edited May 12, 2024 by Headrush69

But of course that's a matter of taste. Of course I can answer a few questions for you: 1) This is difficult. I never calculated it exactly, but I think in the end it was around 2-2.5t euros 2) I was lucky enough to find a 40" TV. I'm very happy with it because it's the closest thing to an original pinball. But I think a 39" TV is also good. 3) Due to the very high costs, I decided straight away for full HD. In my opinion, this is completely sufficient as a display. It then makes more sense to spend more money on hardware performance. Because what's the point of a good 4k picture if it ends up stuttering or chopping. 4) On the one hand, I installed a normal tilt pendulum (spare part). and because I used a Pinscape with KL25z, I also automatically have the function and option to use a digital accelerometer. From today's perspective, I don't think you necessarily need the tilt pendulum. But it's also because I only push my table a little bit when I do. 5) I would actually pay more attention to the performance of the PC hardware, but luckily I can still adjust that. Otherwise I think you should have enough hard drive space. I have 2x250gb and that's not enough. Especially if you make backups (and I strongly recommend that!) you should choose the second hard drive large enough. Another point that I would do differently is to expand the additional LED lighting on the playing field. I only installed flashers in the back (they are really great). But it's even better if you have an additional LED field there too. I'm still thinking about adding it. I would also definitely install lighting for the speakers in the back box. But it's good for me that I still have two channels free in my LED controller. 6) My favorite classic tables are Cirqus Voltaire, Theater of Magic and Tales of the Arabian Nights. But I have to say there are also a lot of good tables here on vpunivers, optimized for Visual Pinball. There would be, for example: IT Pinball Madness, Stranger Things 4, Goonies... I've probably forgotten a lot of them now. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask greetings from germany

My initial vision is very much what you have, but I'm hesitant on the investment. I have these games running on my standup cabinet, but obviously it's not the same. I know I will enjoy it, but the main hope is introducing the kids to pinball and not sure I want to risk that level of investment at this time. Seems all the kids want to pay on is their Nintendo switches or silly games on the adults phones! Having the tactile feel from exciters, solenoids are what I think are the most important parts to start with, but I have read some pinball cabinets posts about issues with digital accelerometers and exciters, bass speakers etc. Have you had any issues with this or does the KL25Z let you dial in the sensitivity settings enought to avoid that. Thanks again for your input, here across the globe in Canada.

There are a lot of decisions that you have to make beforehand. I know the problem with children very well. I have two myself who like to play Switch and Playstation. I have to say that a pinball is a nice change, but the children only play with it every now and then. I think today the expectations of the kids are different. They need a lot more variety. But for me and especially my friends it's a nice thing with pinball. I can't say anything about interference with exciters, as I set it up in the classic way with normal speakers. and with my subwoofer and also the shaker there are no problems with the kl25z. So I can reassure you, most problems can be solved. I initially had problems with the HDMI signal and the motors. But this can also be easily eliminated with the right electronic components (coils, capacitors, etc.). You need a lot of patience to get everything working, but it's also a lot of fun.

floeschng Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Hi, no problem, I'd be happy to help you and answer your questions. First, I recommend the website mjrnet.com I basically used the instructions from there exactly for my case. I also used the many tips for the displays and especially for positioning. I also took the measurements for the feet from there. There is also a playlist on YouTube from „Way of the Wrench“ with really good videos and tips, also on the topic of displays and cases. my feet and the lockbar are original parts from an old pinball machine. Attached the Pictures of the Backglas Monitor and the Full DMD Display. the Monitor is a simple PC Monitor and the DMD is an old Display from a Dell Laptop. I bought a controller for it from ebay. The primary Display is a simple Hisense 40“ TV I prefer for the decals and Design please contact [email protected]
