pmanic Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Building my first vpin and looking for opinions. I'm trying to decide between the Asus 43" xg43uq or if it's worth spending a little more for the 42" OLED LG C2 or C3. I am currently trying out the Asus. I thought the Asus looked great when I had it standing on my desk but when I laid it into vpin orientation I started wondering whether the OLED would help with viewing angles. Any thoughts out there on upgrading from the Asus to the LG OLED? Also any real world feedback on how big a deal OLED burn-in is?

JerseyJohnny Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I've had the 42inch LGC2OLED since 2019 as my playfield, and I'll never buy another screen again. Since then I've purchased a 65inch LGC2OLED for my bedroom, and I purchased the 83inch LGC2OLED that's in the same room as my vpin which is use for my home theater, but I also have my stand up 32inch Rec Room Masters arcade cabinet , my xbox series x, and my new gaming pc all hooked up to the 83inchs hdmi 2.1 ports. Not only is it amazing for movies but gaming on it at 4k@120, with Dolby atmos, and Dolby vision is amazing. I have 15foot usb3.0 extension cables that my sinden light guns are connected to so when I want to play my Hyperspin build from my stand up arcade , I can put my feet up and play shooting games, and bring in my racing g29 setup if I want to play my racing games on the 83inch. Don't let anyone tell you, you cant use it for gaming because of burn in, I've had one in my vpin the longest and have no burn in at all. Buy the 42inch LGC3 Oled now, I don't think there is a c2 anymore. It supports VRR, G sync, and free sync.
jdv Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 I have the 42" LG OLED C2 - it's pretty amazing. Makes even FX3 tables look great. OLED def the way to go.
neohusky Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Hi All I'm looking for some playfield recommendations for a wide body cabinet also. I'm wanting to upgrade from an old 46" 1080p 60Hz samsung tv to 4k. As discussed above I have heard LG C1/C2 and C3 48" OLED TVs are pretty good for a playfield. I've measured out a 42" and it will have too much of a bezel around it and won't look right so I'm gonna have to spend to by a 48" which will fit perfectly.. Is there a noticeable difference between 120Hz and 144Hz? The reason I ask is I've got a tight budget for this upgrade as I need to upgrade the PC also. I've seen: 1.New in box LG 48" C3 144Hz for AUD$1699 2. Second hand LG 48" C1 120Hz for AUD$850 My preference of course would be to not spend over $1600 if I can avoid it.Can I get away with the C1? Any other recommendations?

Are you planning on routing the cabinet sides? Also, stick with 120Hz; 144Hz is not enough of a perceivable difference to justify the additional hardware strain.
neohusky Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Hey @robertms My sides are already routed so it would be a snug fit. Thanks for the feedback on 120 vs 144hz. Cheers
