mefgames Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Table and backlglass load up fine, game plays, but only with the sound of the ball rolling, no music. It did work when I first downloaded it, but not anymore. It does this on the JP version as well. I've tried the 7, 8, 9, 0 adjustment keys, but that didn't solve the problem. Thanks in advance, MIke
Thalamus Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Tried to rename lotr.nvm to something else and restarted ?
mefgames Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 Thanks for the quick reply. Just tried it, but it didn't help.
Tikimaster Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 be sure to use the right rom file.. What version and size has yours?
mefgames Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 (edited) Downloaded a new LOTR rom again and deleted the nvram file. Still no music. the new one is 10.0 Edited January 2, 2024 by mefgames
carlslucas Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Same issue. I just noticed the music was actually very low. I turned up my sound to 10 and the music was there very feint. Not sure how to fix that. I turned volume up in the rom I think? Loaded LOTR VPW valinor edition, 9 turns up and 8 down. I hope this helps?
EhEhRon Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 I literally just had this problem, and I figured it out: the ROM from the Stern website is missing a file in the ZIP. You need to put the file "bios.u8" into the ZIP file, I got this from an older version of the LOTR ROM here on VPU, linked below. Once I inserted the bios file into the ZIP, it worked perfectly!
VPUThomas Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) I have a similar issue with the newest VPW version (as well as the linked B2S) of the table and the ROM (vpuniverse.com/files/file/1448-lotrzip). I get plenty of game sounds... until I *play* the game. After the table initializes Galadriel starts talking etc. etc. however, once the quarters are in and the game is started just table sounds (ball rolling etc.). Quit the table and try again... same behaviour - can hear all the sounds... until I play. If I enter the menu of the game and come back out, the next boot results in the table unable to find the balls. Any suggestions? I've tried deleting the nvram and cfg files. Thanks in advance. The contents of the ROM file are as follow: Edited November 23, 2024 by VPUThomas
Thalamus Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Rebuild your rom collections using proper rebuild tools like clrmame pro - or rom center. Don't try to do these things manually. Files might be named the same, but, have different content ! Stay way way - away from vpforums roms and ipdb.org for that matter. Get roms from VPU, Carny updates them - NONE of the other sites do. Here's my lotr.zip - using merged sets rebuild by clrmame pro. I can play any god damn version of lotr pinmame supports if I want. Old rules ... whatever. Edited November 23, 2024 by Thalamus
Content Provider CarnyPriest Posted November 23, 2024 Content Provider Posted November 23, 2024 Seems like the correct rom contents, but I don't know which table you are attempting to play. If you are just now installing the table, then you need to turn up the volume in the in-game menu. https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=tutorials&article=51

Hi, I have problems with the sound with the VPX Lord of the Rings (Stern 2003) VPW 1.6.vpx, what table are you using?
YoungGabe53 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 Yeah VPW release, had no sound, adding the bios file from the other rom brought it back!

deoxxys Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Weird, even when you add that bios file to the ROM it still doesnt work. Literally ONLY the ZIP that EhEhRon posted works. Nothing from the IPBD link works and literally all the files are different between the 3 different versions (ROM, PINMAME ROM and EhEhRon)
