New Custom Backbox for the ALP

While simultaneously making the below Pup Pack, I also built my own custom Backbox for my ALP.

 

 

I used a lot of the ideas presented by Major Frenchy in his Backbox build.  Put in a 24 inch diagonal monitor for the backglass, repurposed the old ALP backglass as the DMD and moved over the ALP speakers to the new box.

What did you use to get the old 15" lcd working?

I didn't use anything different.  The only difference between the original backbox and the new backbox is that the original lcd is in a different position.  Same connectors as the with the original backbox.  That way you still have the compatibility on that screen with all the ALP stuff.

Just an update on my UN-ALP.  I've done so many mods to this cabinet that I feel weird calling it an ALP any more.

 

I already did the backbox, now I've upgraded the speakers to some 4" Kickers, and I upgraded the playfield to a 2K LG with the 144hz refresh rate.  Now I can get back to the business of gaming and making Pup Packs......... 😁

That's brilliant. I never would have thought of using the original LCD as the small display for a 3 screen setup. I have my big LCD on a TV arm mounted above my Legends back-box and I just pull it down over top of it when playing VPX and push it back up when playing the built-in games.

I may have to go this route for mine!

Yes, it's functional and gives you a nice 15 inch DMD.  I had a tiny little LCD taped to the backbox but now-a-days I couldn't imagine using anything other than my big DMD.

That's great.  I'm at that stage with full OTG, 144hz 2k playfield and a little 9" DMD taped to the original backbox.  This is great inspiration.
