Hi

first time poster and stuck on the above.  Has anyone got these to work using the PinballX front end - I have seen a topic at gamesex.com but it was not resolved.

I used their launch script suggestions

Launch Before Executable - dmdext.exe

Launch Before path - C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME (or whatever)

Launch Before Parameters - mirror --source=pinballfx3 -q -d virtual --fx3-legacy --fps 60 --use-ini="c:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\DmdDevice.ini" --pinup PinUp\[TABLEFILEWOEXT]  (i'm not sure in FX3 if the parameter would be TABLEFILEWOEXT, TABLEFILE or even DESCRIPTION)

However I get an error in my dmd.ext.exe saying Error opening pinup output. ROM name must not be null

Any ideas how to fix this.  I have tried various puppacks, Archer, Aliens, etc but none work.  I know it is setup ok as puppacks work with Future Pinball and VPX tables.

I have attempted using different combinations after PinUp\ including the puppack names, nothing works.

Also attempted changing the executable to pupdmdcontrol

Unsure if the pups on FX3 ONLY work with Popper installed

Still trying to find a fix to this like the original poster (although no replies)

I tried doing it for the desktop without  frontend but still wont fire.  Used a .bat file with the following:

start "" "PUPDMDControl.exe" FX3 PINUP\ALIENS

cd /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam"

start "" "steam.exe" -applaunch 442120

It loads directly to the Aliens game but no Puppack

Made sure my DMDDevice.ini showed pinup as = true

So at a loss.  Same on my cabinet.  Using PinballX frontend and the colour Roms work using a script launch, bot not the puppacks in FX3.  Pups are working fine in Future Pinball and VPX however

Hopefully someone can help

Bit further in case anyone else has same problem

Pups fire on desktop now without a front end using following .bat commands.  Moved FX3.exe from Steam to avoid logging in issues

DMDExt:

@echoff

start /min "" "dmdext.exe" mirror --source=pinballfx3 -q -d virtual --fx3-legacy --virtual-position=2 2 512 --pinup Pinup\***table name***

cd /d "C:\vPinball\Pinball FX3\Pinball.FX3"

start "" "Pinball FX3.exe" -applaunch 442120 -table_***table name***

DMDPUPControl:

@echoff

cd /d "C:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME"
start /min "" "PUPDMDControl.exe" FX3 PINUP\***table name***

With the DMDPUPControl, you then need to load up FX3 manually within 60 seconds or so

Good thing is that it is displayed, some vids dont fire, regardless if using DMDExt or PUPDMD - not sure why - maybe as not using the Popper frontend with DMDPUP?

Need to get on the cab now

FP125, thanks for your efforts.

I can confirm your findings, every PUP (VPX, FP) is working, only FX3 got stuck.

I then used your DMDExt-start-line for the FX3 launch script in Popper emulator setup (of course different positions for the DMD in my cabinet) and it works perfectly.

It works inside a .bat without popper too. Of course I'm not sure whether every vid fires, but I saw a lot.

As soon as I use PUPDMDControl.exe the PUP starts but nothing else will be triggered.

In and outside of popper.

And pinupdisplay/pinupplayer won't close after the pinball is closed.

I'll do a complete new setup in tje next weeks, perhaps then it will work as it should.
