Spacegoogie Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 So this is the second time The Addams Family table had just lost all BG sounds. Not sure what I did to fix last time this happened but I deleted the .cfg and the .nvram tried a different rom and rom will load but again no BG sound. Any reason why this would happen or keep happening? Thanks for any help!
Spacegoogie Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 ok, I tried setting windows from the 7.1 to 2.0 sound setup, then the same in VPX. Restarted tested, all working! Went back, changed back to 7.1 and still working. Maybe the 10.8 beta 5 vpx? same thing happens in 32bit as well as 64.
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Now I have no BG sound on Attack from mars? All flipper, plunger, and ball sounds are good. Is this a beta 5 issue? This is driving me insane.
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Once again, I set everything up to 2.1 sound and all sounds are back. I have been running 7.1 so not sure why all of a sudden this has become an issue? still looking for help to isolate.
Rappelbox Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 its a vpinmame "issue", not vpx. the problem is that you probably don't have a center channel in your system. there are several ways you could fix it: 1. you can use equalizerapo to reroute your center channel to front left and right. 2. use altsound packages, these are recorded in stereo, which routes the signals correct to front left and right speakers. 3. revert back to vpinmame 3.4 (i'm not 100% certain that will work but i read that it should)

Wow all the things I have been trying, and pulling out hair I don't even have. Thank you for your help! Gonna Try EQ APO.
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Downloaded equalizerapo but can not seem to find away to use after install. No U.I.
Rappelbox Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 in the installation folder there's a editor.exe go into config folder and copy the following line into your config.txt: Copy: L=C R=C have fun
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 LMAO, missed that. Thanks again. about to play around.
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 My next question(s) is, does the editor need to be open for this to work? Do I need to have this start up with windows? I see the correct config is loaded but no noticeable change. I have tried with and without the Center Channel enabled in windows 7.1 sound setup config but no sounds from center? I know Im doing something wrong lol.
Spacegoogie Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Must have been me, it seems to be working now! Yay!!! Any personal setting config recommendation? I can't thank you enough. Little things like this drive me bat $*it crazy!
gonzonia Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 OMG! I'm on a brand new setup and I thought something was messed up. Okay, now I have a plan to fix it. I wasn't going to jump right over to the Pinvol/EqualizerAPO setup, but I guess that's next on the list.
gonzonia Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 So, while this was my exact problem I didn’t have to install equalizerAPO. I just went through the config in windows again and made sure to de-select the center channel and subwoofer.
gonzonia Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Just to complete this loop. I think using the "Force Stereo" option in VPinMame also achieves this
