Washed out colors when VLC plays playfield and backglass video (AMD Radeon card)

Hi,

I have a small problem but could not find a solution.

Color are washed out when pinup popper plays video (backglass & playfied).

I saw some solution for Nvidia video card. I have a AMD one (rx 570 with latest AMD driver)

OS is windows 10.

I noticed that the provided  VLC (2.2.8) plays washed out video (blacks are grayed) with default settings.

If i modify Tools>Preference>Video>Output to "DirectX" video are nice and contrasted.

But it has no impact when pinup popper launches VLC.

Does pinup popper set some params such as the output driver to use ?

Is it possible to override those params ?

Any idea ?

Thanks a lot,

Xavier

(Aditional info : replacing provided VLC with 3.0.18 plays the video perfectly.

But it crashes after 3 or 4 pinball switch. so looks like we have to stick with 2.2.8)

  • Ixox changed the title to Washed out colors when VLC plays playfield and backglass video (AMD Radeon card)

My conclusion no to let this question alone 🙂

That's not a huge problem but that really makes pinup popper less nice.

I didn't find any solution with my AMD card.

I changed my AMD RX570 to an almost equivalent Nvidia GTX 1060 i had, i used the Nvidia panel to select "full dynamic (0-256) color" in one of the menues....
And it's now working fine Video played by VLC in pinup popper are perfect.

Not sure there's a fix with AMD video card.

Have a good day,

Xavier
