Table will not start with "Extra Ball" enabled in ROM (F6) Options

Selecting "Extra Ball" in Playfield Options menu (F6) the table will not start. You have to delete the NVRAM file in order to get the table to run again (which resets all options).

Interesting...I just tried this on the Daft Punk mod of Gottlieb's "Rock" and it doesn't work. Changed it in the Dip switches, reloaded. Extra ball is lit but "Shoot again" will not light up after the correct shot that should give you the extra ball. 

Anyone experiencing this? Any hints? The table is way less fun without the goal of an extra ball...
