I once owned somasport.com (the old code is still here: http://www.threebuttes.com/SomaSport/index.php) and I managed the website for a friends business. His business never took off and one day we were approached to sell the domain name for $1000 and we said no. A year more passed and my friend still hadn't done much business and we were approached again and the guy increased the offer to $1500 so we took the offer. I'm actually in the middle of selling one of the domains that I've owned since 98. We are expecting anywhere between $45k-50k once all is said and done. A friend of mine in town that also is into astronomy used to own http://www.galaxies.com/ and whoever owns it now paid him $10K for the domain name. I'm really not seeing why it was worth that much to them to buy the name. I also own pencreator.com because I make pens but never got around to putting anything on the website. I own arizonalightshow.com and coppercreeklights.com because I do a lightshow in my yard for christmas and thought I might want a site to advertise but again never had time to populate them. I have zonacreations.com because my wife thought she might want to sell crafts and that never happened. For me a matter of way too many hobbies and way too little time. Heck I almost forget I've got http://www.troop299az.com/ where I manage my sons boyscout troop website and I've got another domain for my son's Minecraft server...lol.
