jimbone007 Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Hey everyone. first post here and very new to vpin. I am trying to set up visual pinball on my pc with a single screen. I'd like to display the playfield, back glass and dmd all on one screen. I used baller installer to install everything. I was confused when it told me to set up my display positions. I set the playfield to full screen. then the back glass to the top right corner and the dmd to bottom left but I couldn.t figure out how to line the 3 windows up so the would meet each other so I turned the dmd off and just thought I'd test with the back glass. Then when I got to the realdmd setting I really didn't know what to do so I just finished the install. I am following nailbusters youtube video throughout all of this but there was a lot of basic things that didn't seem to be covered. So I downloaded some tables from here and extracted the contents .vpx and the folder containg more folders into the tables folder on visual pinball. When I launch them I have no back glass. When I launch the leprechaun king table I have a back glass. So I guess what I'm asking is: 1) When using baller installer do I need to set up display positions for the back glass and dmd if I'm using the single screen set up option? 2) If the answer to 1 is yes is there a way to set the windows up all at the same time so I can basically join them together? 3)for a single screen set up do I need to change anything in the realdmd setting ini part of the installer? 4) Am I supposed to put the .vpx, dmd and back glass folders all in the tables folders? 5) Is there a thread on here that can tell me where all the different files go to get newer tables running with everything the download comes with? I know there's probably a lot I can't run since I'm on 1 screen for now but I'd like to use it to the fullest and get everything running good and familiar so when I build my cab I'll have a idea of how to get everything running. Thanks in advance for your patience and answers.
Tikimaster Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Its normal that users, who are absolutely new to vp are ending in a chaos when they use a all-in-one-installer. I strongly advise doing a "VP Fundamentals driver's license" first before dealing with Popper. Otherwise, in your situation, you have too many errors at the same time that you can't identify. I can't help with Popper, I only use the pinup player. But I think you didn't create screenres settings for the b2s server. Or the server is not installed correctly. Quote 1) When using baller installer do I need to set up display positions for the back glass and dmd if I'm using the single screen set up option? Popper displays Windows. The Popper-Backglass Window, the Popper-DMD Window.. so Popper needs to know where to show them. Also on Desktop. Quote 2) If the answer to 1 is yes is there a way to set the windows up all at the same time so I can basically join them together? There is a way, but I only use Pinup Player. I had to config all the windows, Pinup player shows. (Backglass-Server needs it too) Hope a Popper-User can help on this. Quote 4) Am I supposed to put the .vpx, dmd and back glass folders all in the tables folders? In my table folder I got: tables, backglasses and ultra-DMD folders. Quote 5) Is there a thread on here that can tell me where all the different files go to get newer tables running with everything the download comes with? I know there's probably a lot I can't run since I'm on 1 screen for now but I'd like to use it to the fullest and get everything running good and familiar so when I build my cab I'll have a idea of how to get everything running. You´ll be able to run the most things with one screen. I am Desktopper, I do not miss something. Take Time, read, read, read, learn. How to set up and configure the backglass server How to set up and configure vpinmame and sound How to set up and configure DMDext How to set up a table: What is *.res file What is *.pov file Popper neeeds a well configured vp to run properly. And Popper has a lot of new configs and runs "on top" of your vp. You´ll need some special settings to get the pinup player windows on top on some pup packs and you´ll need to use pupinit.bat and PuPDesktopPunch.exe Open this page and scroll down to the end: https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=puppack_troubleshoot Overview:
jimbone007 Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Thanks for the reply. Your answers helped me understand a little better. I definitely have a lot to learn and a long way to go here haha. Are there sticky threads for desktop users to read with basic info to get started? I would like to just get one table to run properly in visual pinball then I might have a better understanding on getting them all running generally. I downloaded harry potter the goblet of fire table and the table is playable and the frame of the backglass is there with the playfield but the puppack video isn't. The video is running in the background along with the dmd video. When I exit the playfield both the backglass and dmd are working. What would cause this? I feel like i'm close to getting it to work its probably a setting I don't know to look for.
jimbone007 Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Where do I put all of the other files/folders? I have ITVPXPackage. The table works and the dmd works but I have no Backglass and I don't know where to put all of the folders that come with it: Animated fulldmd underlay Animated wheel Flyers Loading Video Poster Rules and instructions Static FUlldmd underlay Topper Trailer

Did you put pupinit.bat and PuPDesktopPunch.exe in your potter-pup folder? Without these files on desktop you will always have videos in background. The two files are needed in EVERY Pup Pack on desktop. All the files mentioned above belong to your front end. I use PinballY, can´t help with popper. 🙂 Here are my pup pack window settings for Harry Potter on HD Desktop. You may put it into your HP pup pack folder in side of pupinit.bat and PuPDesktopPunch.exe will look like this: PinUpPlayer.ini
jimbone007 Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 Thanks for the tip and the ini. I don't have those in my puppack folder. I'll try that.
jimbone007 Posted November 13, 2022 Author Posted November 13, 2022 That worked! Only problem I'm having now is this the pinupplayerconfigdisplays I can't get the DMD (4:1 slim) window to appear. I select it and it says its off screen and asks to correct it which I select yes but it never appears so I am unable to get the dmd to work. Any suggestions?
