Sound troubleshooting

Hey all, I've finally gotten to a point where things are starting to take shape within my cabinet, and I've had the chance to test out a bunch of tables. I've noticed a few issues I've had with sound that I'd like to get some answers to, and was hoping people might be able to help.

1. On some tables the sound of the actual machines are much louder (or quieter) than the sounds coming from the ROM. Even when "opening the coin door" and adjusting sound in the service menu, I am not able to fix these discrepancies. Where else should I be looking to fix this?

2. Some PUPPacks work beautifully, and others (GotG) work but the sound from the videos are way too quiet. Where should I be looking to adjust the PUPPack audio levels?

3. Double-up of sounds. On occasion I've found activated a PUP Pack (Simpsons Pinball Party), and found the sounds of the machine play as well, and it leads to a mess of sounds as everything competes for attention. Any solution to this?

Thanks so much

Simpsons Pinball Party Pup Pack provides a special rom zip without sounds for using with the pup pack, try the muted rom. Its the upper link.

Often you can press f1 and disable use samples to prevent double sound with a pup pack.. You also can open the pup pack with the pup pack editor and lower the volume of parts inside the pup pack.

I'm new to virtual pinball so forgive me if I'm sharing the obvious.

In Visual Pinball X I had trouble with low sound on a couple of tables.  Some sounds and music were fine, but other sounds on the same table were so low they were impossible to hear.  What I did was start Visual Pinball X and load the problem table, but I did not start it.  I then went into the Sound Manager (under the Table tab) and looked at the list of sound files for that table.  I found that the unamplified sounds weren't in the list even though they did exist in the VisualpinballX\Music folder.  (You may have sound files in a different folder.)  I just imported the sound files using the Sound Manager.  I started the table and all sounds worked great.
