VR Performance with Color DMD

So I finally got color DMD support setup for VR and it works and looks amazing.  Only problem is that it tanks performance.  I have an AMD 5800X paired with an RTX 2070 Super.  I was reading a lot about color DMD and found it uses the GPU to render, so I'm guessing that's what's happening.  Are there any tweaks that can be done to increase performance or is the answer a new GPU and be done with it?
