Something about the search function feels off

Hi all,

Perhaps I do something wrong but recently when I do a search for something quite common it very often produces 0 results.

What can be the reason ?

@bietekwiet

The search function works for me with those exact words.

You need to make sure you click dropdown arrow on right of where you type the text in and select "Everywhere".

Now your search will work.

I think it defaults to "Just this Topic" when you search without hitting the dropdown menu.

So you are only searching the page you are on when you do this.

@bietekwiet You are right it does not seem to be working right

I beleive that this is a limitation of SQL.. it can't search for specific words, such as "from".  Leave off "from" from that search and it will find what you are looking for.  Sometimes more simple searches work better.

Is there a way to have the top search default to search everything?  (or, even better, set it custom in your profile).  I find myself accidentally searching and getting no results because it's searching the file/post I'm looking at vs the entire site.

Unfortunately, not at this time.  I've made the suggestion to the software developers so hopefully in the future.
