I try to figure out why some pup packs work and other don't (I'm in VR, only).

 

Example: Avatar

The pup pack is showing on my screen and in vr ... yeahh!

But the only triggers that work is attract mode and the default background movie.

In the pupcapture folder there are all shots off relevant dmd states but they seem not to get captured by pup-player except "avatar" (this plays attract movie).

Use external dmd is on, btw.

So where to start looking what's going wrong?

Did you ever resolve this?
I ran into the same issue.

pup packs won't recognize triggers when "external dmd" is not on (F1 while table is running).

External dmd was on. 
It turned out Pinup was set to false in the dmddevice.ini file.
I must have accidentally overwritten this file when updating something.
Oops.
