Solenoids with Piston

Hi there,

 

I've got a bunch of these style solenoids 

 

They've got a piston arm and are 12V. I got given them yesterday by a friend.

 

Why don't I see these style solenoids used more often for DOF? Wouldnt they be perfect if you mounted them on the table with the arm pushing against the cabinet?

 

It's got a great audible click and piston movement. 

 

Why don't I see these used ever? Is there something I am missing?
