BeyondR Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 I sure would appreciate some help activating my DMD. I have Win10 Pro 64 bit OS installed on my PC. Unfortunately I don't succeed in activating my DMD. I have have the key and I have double checked the device number. I don't have any file named pin2dmd.exe in my PC In the STM32 ST-Link Utility directory I could only find three different exe files: ST-LINK_CLI.exe, STLinkUpgrade.exe and STM32 ST-LINK Utility.exe I put the key-file alongside these exe-files, but no activation. I could'n find the command: Device->Activate in the STM32 ST-Link Utility program. I'm stuck here, anybody have a solution?

Content Provider lucky1 Posted May 14, 2021 Content Provider Posted May 14, 2021 Bad or no USB connection. If you use a Nucleo make sure you use the correct USB port next to the Ethernet port

BeyondR Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 Thank's for taking interest Newbie, one question: Should the PIN2DMD.exe program be placed in a special directory?

No, if you receive device activation failed there is a problem with the USB connection. In the link I attached above a user reported that in later Win10 installations you need to downgrade the USB driver using the zadig tool to make it work. The zadig tool can be found here https://github.com/lucky01/PIN2DMD/tree/master/usb_driver . Don´t you have a micro SD card you can copy your key file to, to activate the pin2dmd ?
BeyondR Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 ...or the file have a special name or could I leave it as it is?
BeyondR Posted May 15, 2021 Author Posted May 15, 2021 Success! Thank you guys for all your help, when I was about to give up I had no card reader on my DMD. I had the USB-cable in the wrong USB-port so thank you for correcting that, Newbie. I didn't know where to find Pin2dmd.exe and so the hyperlinks really pushed me in the right direction! Thank you outhere for sharing a picture, that really helped! Have a good day you all, I know I will! Pinball Lunatic
