Pin2DMD stuck with "STERN SAM" on screen

Was fiddling with my p2dmd today. Looking to see what version it was and wondering if it can be upgraded to the latest version.

I managed to find the version - 2.32 but ive also managed to get it stuck.

Now when it powers on all I get is the logo with "STERN SAM" underneath.

If turn it off and remove the SD card then turn it back on this changes to "VIRTUAL PINBALL" but when I put the card back im right back at "STERN SAM"

Tried holding buttons down but all I can seem to do is reset it.

What have I done ? :(

(Also - can it be upgraded to 3.x? )

Thanks

You don´t seem to have user buttons installed on your shield pcb. The blue onboard button has no function and the black onboard button is reset.

Remove the pin2dmd.dat file from your SD card to get it into vpin mode with SD card inserted.

For instructions how to upgrade your device please read https://pin2dmd.com/installation/

Ive managed to get it back on. (Not sure exactly what I did but nevertheless its working again)

Headed to the upgrade guide, ran the dfuse util which went thru what appeared to be correct phases. That is to say it said "Erasing" then "updating".

Said it was done.

Power cycled.. and it still shows as ver 2.32 :(

Yeah - thats what I tried yesterday.

Tried it again and it  seems to work - as in says its erasing, then uploading then verifies.

But on boot it still says 2.32 :(

Then you most likely have overwritten your download file with your current image by using the upload and not the upgrade function of the DFU tool.
Please download the firmware again and use the upgrade function and NOT the upload function

OK, its been a while. And this has been working great. However I just tried to update to v 4.41 so I can run the gold colourizations.

Tried updating with the .upd from the V3 STM32F4 DISCOVERY folder but it just says "Invalid update".

Can I not run this firmware with my board :(

Thanks
