Which tv type best for playfield? LCD or LED

The panels are all LCD (unless using OLED or if you made a huge dot matrix display) - the LED you are probably referring to is the method of backlighting (which the vast majority are now).  I personally prefer to have LED backlighting and for it to be in an array (not edge lit).
