There must be some error in Pin2DMD installation - FW and Driver 11-29-2015.pdf

Under point 6 there is drivers from a dropbox mentioned... where is this dropbox or has this been replaced by the drivers folder on github? The names does not match anything there though...

Sorry.

That was my fault.

I upload the driver in 45 minutes to my dropbox again.

Update:

here is the Driver (original ST Website, use the Download button to get the ZIP file):

http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF260219

Also my DropBox link: (I delete it again, after I changed the Instructions)

I will update the PDF as soon as possible.

Instructions are up to date.

FW Instructions 12-08-2015 is the latest right now.

You will find it here (Post #1 or #2) and on GitHub from Pin2DMD

Some people are having trouble to execute the Pin2DMD Tool.

Here is a small hint, that could you help out.

Use the Pin2DMD in this Folder: "tools/VC++/binary" it is the latest version.

UNBLOCK all of the DLL files and the Pin2DMD excutable for Windows in the "VC++/binary" Folder

1. Right click on the file, and click on Properties.

2. Under the General tab, click/ on the Unblock button, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: If you do not see an Unblock button, then the file has already been unblocked.

I'm ready to give my Pin2DMD a whirl, started following the instructions and I've got stuck on the firmware installation, not very much progress when the first few steps where just downloading everything!

I can't find the PIN2DMD.coproj file anywhere in the github source files so not sure how I'm meant to build it? Searched the forums and can't see anything related so the process is either changed or I'm being a numpty?

Can anyone point in in the direction of the file or new instructions.

Thanks

There was a problem in the gitignore file. You can try again, but I would recommend that you use the binary file

from the repository instead of building from source. The binary is tested better to be working. We are currently

reworking the routines needed by the Pin2DMD Editor for better performance.

To just upload the binary to the device you should use the ST Link Utility from here

So I have located the source code for version 2.86 provided by Lucky1 Here:https://github.com/lucky01/PIN2DMD/releases/tag/v2.68 ,  But unfortunately, I cannot find any information on how to make that into a BIN file to put on my Pin2dmd.  I currently have version 3.05 on it, which works with Luckys .dll, but not with the Freezy .dll.  Can anyone provide me with either a 2.67 or 2.68 BIN or .UPD file?  Thank you.

I just opened the zip file and found the .UPD file in side... so Nevermind... Thanks anyway

Where can i find the latest version of the pin2dmd.exe tool (to support the latest firmware) and is this what I use with a laptop (connected via USB) to grab screen dumps in real-time for colouring?

I want to grab some uncoloured screens for the author or TSPP who doesn't currently have a real TSPP to grab them from himself.

Thanks in advance.

The tools can be found here https://github.com/lucky01/PIN2DMD/tree/master/tools. I just added a version for Win64 and OSX.
Best results can be achieved with no colorization installed on the device and the tool running on OSX. Windows ist not the best choice for realtime applications with the need for high timer precision.

Having the darndest problem.  I Previously had a PinDMD v2 connected.  all my games worked fine with Freezy.  I removed the PinDMD v2 and added in the Pin2DMD.  Now whenever I try a VP game, I get an error PinDMD v2 not found.  If I clear the error , then the game will start and the PIN2DMD will operate.  I have been over my DMDDevice.ini file and made the other display types False for enabled, leaving only the Pin2DMD as enabled = true.  I have also tried substituting the .dll from Lucky for pinmame.

I have tried uninstalling Visual Pinball, and reinstalling it.  No luck.  Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

New member here.  I won't claim I know everything.  In fact, I'm just getting started.  I have my PIN2DMD and I'm just trying to get familiar with it.  I downloaded the Hardware Tutorial PDF to get myself familiar with the hardware, but the PDF appears to be corrupted.  I'm not able to open the file.  Is there another document that will tell me what specific LEDs do on the back of the PCB, what the different buttons do, how the hardware should look on the back when it is booting, etc?

I am also having issues with the OSX version of PIN2DMD.exe tool.  I am running OS 10.10.5 which is not supported.  Is there an older version of PIN2DMD.exe that I could use?  I am on an older MacBook that cannot be upgraded any further.

Thank you!

Damn.  Well that sucks.  I'll have to bring my work laptop home and give that a try.

Thank you for the reply!

The complier on my OSX version does not allow to compile for a OS that is 6 years old.

Ha ha!  I guess support for Mac OS X Cheetah is out of the question too then huh?  ;)

Hello again, going back to my original post, I am trying to get familiar with my PIN2DMD.
