SFrazer434 Posted Sunday at 06:49 PM Posted Sunday at 06:49 PM I'm working on building my own linux pincab and I've stumbled upon the pac format and I understand the reason for the encryption. I'm not really interested in a physical DMD for my machine (I already have a monitor in that space) but I would like the ability to legitimately decrypt pac format files provided by the community. My question is: Am I able to get a legitimate decryption key by donating to the charity you've specified without obtaining the hardware? Thanks for your time and your contributions to the hobby!
Content Provider lucky1 Posted Monday at 09:06 AM Content Provider Posted Monday at 09:06 AM The key you get for your donation is only for activation of pin2dmd hardware and not for decryption of PAC files. The pin2dmd editor allows the colorization author to select the export format for his colorization. If he chooses PAC he does not want his colorization to be used on any other than a windows machine using my dmdext plugin. If he chooses VNI/PAL he allows the usage on other virtual pinball platforms. Any other usage is illegal. It is the authors decision how he wants to protect his work, not mine. I only provide the possibilities requested by the colorization authors.
