DMDext 2.5 and error "DAX error: external exception E044352"

Hello,

I am posting here because I haven't been able to find a solution on GitHub or in other forum threads.
I want to use the new Serum colorizations with zeDMD (using a real DMD) and the new version of dmdext (v2.5).
After installing the new version of DMDext (v2.5 ZIP), an error message—"DAX error: external exception E044352"—appears when I launch PinupPopper v1.5. I click OK and PinupPopper launches, but I no longer see anything on my real DMD (no animations at all) while in the menus.
I have no issues with VPX 10.8 (64-bit) and in-game animations work fine; however, as soon as I exit the table and return to the menu, the problem recurs..
Reverting to version 2.3.1 works (though I cannot get Serum V2 files to work).
I have tried reinstalling Visual C++, etc.
I'm running out of ideas, and I was advised to ask here since the issue seems to stem from Pinup (and its interface with DMDext).
