I'm hoping someone has some idea of what might be happening with no sound on a few tables that I have installed.

I am not hearing music or call outs in only a few tables.  Some of the tables are, No Fear Dangerous Sports, Cyclone, and World Cup Soccer.  I hear the VPX sounds like ball rolling, flipper hits, etc, but no call outs or music.  All of my other tables sounds work just fine.
I can't say exactly when it started happening as I don't play these tables as much as others.  I cannot pinpoint it down to a specific Windows update, VPX update,  or a PinUP update as I update my system on a regular basis.  I do take backups and went back to a few previous backups going back a few months but the problem persists in those also.

Here is what I currently have on my system:

VPX table example: Cyclone (Williams 1988) RobbyKingPin v2.4.1

Windows 11 Latest patches as of 6-22-26
Running VPX on a 3 screen cabinet
7.1 Surround Sound using sound kit from Cleveland Software
I am on the latest PinUP Baller update v1.5.0(16)
VPX 10.8.0 Final Rev 2058 DirectX 64bits

Things I've checked already:
Checked the F1 menu for Sound on, no muting
Changed the Alt Sound mode to 1 and then back to 0 thinking it might have been confused.
Checked table volume keys 8 and 9
Removed the nvram and let it recreate
Replaced the cycln_l5.zip rom
Changed the rom to a different version in the script. ie: cycln_l4.zip
Removed the B2S thinking it might have something to do with it.
Deleted my .ini file and let it get recreated
Downloaded and installed a completely new version of the table from VPU.
I am running the tables outside of PinUP Popper.  Just clicking on the executable.

Again, it only fails on specific tables.  All other tables the sound works perfectly fine.

Hoping someone has some ideas of what might be going on or what else I can check...

Thanks,

Reading what you've done - I can't think of anything else to try now than to look at what is common between those tables of yours. Are they maybe the same machine roms ?

What I mean by this is that not so long time ago. I noticed that Bally MPU AS-2518-35 did have issues on my end. I noticed it by playing Frontier, all of a sudden I didn't hear the crickets sharping.

I know that at that time I had change the default rom to something that is "better" for competitions and I though it was my main issue. But, replacing it for a previous - I noticed that the common culprit was what I just mentioned.

Dolly Parton had "most sound", so did other roms in that "family".

Make a note of what tables you've got issue with. IF you keep older VPinmame.dll's around - maybe try to roll back and see if this resolves it. Use ipdb.org as it is quite easy to see common traits from that site.

Of course, if you find that there are a common thing, we should let the devs know. They can't test every rom combination every time they release an update.

Thanks Thalamus and deadmanworking for the suggestions.   It helped me go down a different path and that helped me figure out the problem!   I started to go down the VPinmame.dlls road for a few hours as per Thalamus, then deadmanworking suggested changing "extend mono to stereo".   I did that for the tables that were not working and all of them started working.  That didn't make sense... I never had to do that before, so I dug deeper into my sound settings.  I completely forgot that I was using FxSound because it has never given me any problems in all the time I've had it.  I like it because it's simple,  I can boost the bass, and it has a nice equalizer.  As soon as I shut off FxSound, all my tables with issues started working again. (I also unchecked the Extend mono to stereo setting in the F1 menu).

So why all of a sudden does FxSound not work anymore with VPX, and only affects just some tables?   I did more regression testing and near as I can tell, it changed around when my system updated from Windows version 24H2 to 25H2.  I cannot say definitively if that is the case but it appears to work on a machine running 24H2 but not in 25H2.  It could also be a patch sometime after 25H2 was installed, who knows...  I deleted FxSound and reinstalled it but that did not work either.  I lost the sound as soon as I turned FxSound on...

So it looks like I will no longer be using FxSound on my system as it causes "some" tables to lose their sound during game play.   I will have to find another program that will work with VPX on my system.

Thanks to all who responded to my issue.  You helped me narrow it down and figure it out.   I hope this helps others that may have this really weird issue.
