izzbo Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Usually mt vpx tables run above 500 fps. If I want to limit them and into the maximum framerate setting and set it to 300 for example, it always maxes out at the refresh rate of the the panel (60 fps or 120 fps for example). Any way around this without having to limit fps on the exe via my graphic card settings and effect all tables?
deadmanworking Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Appears this was possible in VPX7 but not anymore / bugged in VPX8 .. why set a higher frame rate though? In VPX you'll possibly get the best results if you chose frame pacing and a slightly lower frame cap than your refresh rate (like 116 fps for 120Hz, 232 fps for 240Hz) check the frame pacing FAQ for more insight.
izzbo Posted Saturday at 01:02 PM Author Posted Saturday at 01:02 PM (edited) Thanks for responding. My issue is I have a 32" 4k 60hz monitor for my vpin cabinet paired with a rtx 4060. I know this is my real issue (if i go to 60 fps or below it sucks but if i run at unlimited fps at 1080p/HD its like 600 to 800 fps). I liked how the earlier versions let me set fps per tables without locking it to the the refresh rate. I do have a lg 32 inch 165 hz monitor that I just need to build the mounts and install so I'm sure that will help. For now I just limit vpx to 120 fps via my nvidia software and that works well enough. Edited Saturday at 01:39 PM by izzbo
deadmanworking Posted yesterday at 11:56 AM Posted yesterday at 11:56 AM I think we discussed this at some point before for every system the displayed fps and perceived smoothness will always vary, it seems that you perceive the tables running at 120 fps as better (even though your display will always show 60 frames only) so it's really always up to experimenting. On my system I had the best results settings fps to 232 (on 240Hz display) with frame pacing but Freesync ON (contrary to what is stated in frame pacing Faq) so it's always up to a lot of trial and error. At some point you might also try the BGFX beta cause that changes the whole equation again and leads to a fresh round of finding out what's the best setting for your system.
