EDIT: Remembered the F6 key.  And thus the solution.

This is such a great version of the game.  Sad with the last post of the creator.

In this, I was able - somehow! - to link upper lanes 1/4 and 2/3.  It makes the game more fun (to me).  But I can't for the life of me remember how I did that.  I've scoured the script, and can't find any reference to how this was done.

UPDATE:  F6 was the answer.
