I am using Pinup Popper 1.52, latest Windows, heavy-duty setup including a 4070 video card, and running Windows HDR (I love the clarity/colors I get using HDR).

I setup the VPX 10.8 emulator in popper with the default being DisableTrueFullScreen but I have a handful of tables that still present micro ball stutter. If I run those specific tables using the EnableTrueFullScreen setting in Popper then, the micro ball stutter is completely gone (Dark Chaos is one of those tables and I love that one).

Anyway, when I exit one of those tables that is running with the EnableTrueFullScreen setting, I get a screen flash and some weird grey artifacts on both the backglass and playfield. This *will* go away when I start to scroll through the menu of tables but it is an ugly sacrifice (I do have exclusive full screen turned off in VPX).

It's like the refresh rate needs to renegotiate or something once popper releases the active table and goes back to the menu (playfield and backglass videos are how I run popper, so between EnableTrueFullScreen and HDR, something is amiss).

Is there an executable that I could kill when I exit the table to perhaps remove that 're-negotiation' so that weird, grey screen with artifacts doesn't appear?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Recap: If using Windows HDR and EnableTrueFullcreen in the emulation script in pinup popper (1.52), when exiting a table I get a screen blank/flash, some grey artifacts on both the backglass and playfield, and after 5 seconds or so, it will clear up. By enabling True Fullscreen in PinUP Popper (using the -EnableTrueFullscreen) boosts performance because it forces the game (VPX) into Exclusive Fullscreen mode which bypasses Windows Desktop Composition (DWM), reducing input lag, decreasing GPU load, and allowing the engine to take direct control of the display for higher, smoother FPS. It works well.

As a sidenote, I added a few lines in my close script so it looks like this now:

SET FSMODE=DisableTrueFullScreen

timeout 2

"[STARTDIR]LAUNCH\PUPCLOSER.EXE" WINTIT "Visual Pinball" 4 1

In the hope that for the few games that I am running true full screen with will then revert back so I won't get the screen blink and grey artifacts on both the backglass and playfield popper videos. It seems to have helped a little but it's not a foolproof solution. If anyone has any other ideas feel free to share them.
