tuttiweb1 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Hi all, I have a problem which nobody else seems to have and hoped someone with more experience may be able to shed some light with what's wrong and how to fix it. The sensational Jaws table seems to load perfectly, along with the Full DMD and B2S backglass. Looks amazing. The PUP pack is installed and I hear all the audio etc. having chosen the appropriate .bat file to execute. The problem: The only thing I can't do is play a game. I can't seem to add any credits, nor is it Freeplay, where I can simply press Start to play I've tried using the keyboard (credit button 4,5 and 1 to start) but nothing there wither. I don't get any error message nor popup, just nothing happens other than when I press Start, the DMD tell me that I have no credit (So I know it's not the Start button I guess.) If it helps, the only other table this happens with is Deadpool. ALL other tables work ver, very well on my 4 screen cab setup. I am running VPX 10.8 (since it didn't work on 10.7) and FlexDMD is also registered as working and fully up to date. vPinMame is also bang up to date. Edit: The Matrix (2026 v.0.99) table also has the same problem, so I think my problem is much more general than just with Jaws 50th. I have tested my other tables and even installed a new one this morning, and they all add creit and press start as expected. Anyone with any ideas please?
deadmanworking Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Some original tables use differing keypresses, did you alter your Insert Coin key binding from the default in VPX? What are your coin 1, coin 2, start and plunger bindings?

I didn't change any bindings (which work on 60+ other tables) 1 is Start 4 is Coin 1 5 is Coin 2 Enter is plunger I tried pressing lots of other keys, but is the a list of alternative keys I should know abou for these tables perhaps?
Tikimaster Posted March 31 Posted March 31 My steps if I have that problem: 1. Be sure to have the required Vpinmame version 2. Some Tables need a special nvram file. Check that. (just in case) 3. Go to your nvram folder and delete the table related *.nv file - restart the table to reset

Thank you. VpinMame = 1.42 (64bit) - I think this is the latest. No mention of any nvram file on thes Original tables. I did check and there wasn't anything fo rme to delete (which I was hoping there was.)
deadmanworking Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Yes you'll not find nvram files for original tables. Are these all PUPpack tables? Please state exactly which tables for Jaws and Deadpool
tuttiweb1 Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Yes, they are PupPack tables, which I downloaded from the Spreadsheet links. Jaws: Deadpool: Matrix:
deadmanworking Posted March 31 Posted March 31 OK that's at least a hint. Are the tables reacting to any input/key presses, at all? And you say you're on cab -- so you are using buttons to insert coin/Start etc.? What are they configured to? Or are you using Joytokey? PS: A quick fix would be to go in the table scripts and set Freeplay to true

PS: A quick fix would be to go in the table scripts and set Freeplay to true Tables are responding with 'Insert Coin' when I press my Start button. But when I use the buttons I use for all the other tables to insert coin, nothing at all happens then. I'm not using Joy2key either. I use a Pico2 with Pinscape for my buttons and plunger.

I can't find the relevant code in the script of Deadpool though.

Hmm kinda weird problem, might have something to do with Pinupplayer, like double key or button binding so that when Pinup is active it steals the key/button input? Or- did you maybe not assign the buttons/keys in the VPX application itself but only in the frontend or Vpinmame? The fact that rom-based tables work with the standard key bindings, but originals without a rom do not points in that direction tbh + In the Deadpool table, since it's based off JP's table you can set freeplay in the F12 menu.

Again, some very informative thiking there. Thank you. I did set keys in VPX, as well as my plunger and accelerometer. these all work in other tables, including other Originals which don't have ROM files. I agree though, weird. I shall try the F12 menu tomorrow morning.
tuttiweb1 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Found the F12 menu and switched Freeplay on in Deadpool. This means I am able to play the tables, but with the Freeplay workarounds, rather than having resolved the problem. Not a big deal in that case, and thanks for all the help from everyone.
