DOF Pro Simulator/JSON Builder V1.2 is released

After a solid month of designing, building, testing, debugging, swearing, crying and drinking, the next version of my DOF Pro Tool is finally ready to release! This version now allows you do seriously cool effects editing without having to copy/paste or transcribe to the online DOF Config Tool!

DOF Pro Simulator / JSON Builder V1.2 has turned into a very powerful authoring environment for virtual pinball DOF work. What makes this release stand out is that it is no longer just a simulator for previewing effects, it is now a true workflow tool. You can import a table’s JSON config, isolate specific toys and triggers, edit effects visually in the Builder, preview them directly on the matrix and strips, and then export that work back out for use in the online DOF Config Tool. That closes a huge gap in the old process and makes experimentation dramatically faster, because you are no longer guessing at code changes blind or constantly bouncing between tools.

The biggest leap here is the JSON editing pipeline. Being able to load a real table JSON, bring in the matching table bitmap, tune triggers, layers, timing, motion, plasma, and bitmap parameters, and then re-export the result means effect authoring is now much more direct and much more approachable. Instead of editing long DOF strings by hand and hoping the result works in cabinet, you can see the effect, refine it, and iterate quickly. For anyone doing serious DOF customization, this is the kind of feature set that can save a massive amount of time while also making more advanced lighting and bitmap effects practical to build.
