playfield display upgrade suggestions

howdy people  

 

gotta say this is one of the few corners of the interwebs i dont think ive ever had or even seen a negative interaction so kudos for being cool everyone  

 

just upgrading because it seems to be my raison d'etre 

 

and CPU + GPU (5700X + 5060 TI 16GB)  are best i can achieve without doing motherboard upgrade and taking out a loan for a change in ram aswell 

 

however im now considering tv/monitor upgrade as was poking around and THINK ive found a helluva deal on end of life stock but dont wish to jump in just because specs and price seem great ...some mixed reviews re ghosting so just after some semi experts opinions (thats all of you)

also not sure about the matte coating and how that might affect general playfield vibrancy

Hey mate, this looks like a nice upgrade no oled but it would much improve blacks and also response time is way better, I guess the most noticeable jump will be going up to 120 or 144hz as I assume you can now run only 60hz? (your hardware is just about right for that.)

I would give this a try, the only downside I can think of is losing some vibrancy with the matte coating and maybe some viewing angle issues but you'll have to see it in person I guess. I think in most respects it will be a massive improvement to what you're driving now!

yeah its about half $ of oled and i dont know that my old man eyes would notice the difference in blacks really .....viewing angle is supposed to be 178/178 on the new one which i think is pretty good and the matte doesnt seem too bad in the few video reviews ive seen but i dont know that it would show up as much and whether it would affect VP more than any other game .... so yeah ill probably bite the bullet i think maybe possibly after some more fumphering and definitive indecision

oh and i think current has 100hz but pretty sure its just with the anti jag and motion unblur software stuff that tries to emulate 100hz and its actually just 60hz ....some of the manufacturers specs leave much to be desired in terms of reality vs marketing hype

Yes this looks like "fake" 100Hz, trust me you will notice going from 60hz to 100 or 120Hz like crazy good luck with the upgrade, I'm sure it's worth it
