Jickskidwell Posted January 11 Posted January 11 So please forgive me if this is a silly question question , but I am fairly new to all this and I’m learning more every day. But the biggest problem I’ve had is with my single screen desktop setup when I get tables with pup packs or add pop packs to tables I almost never get one that works correctly …. I almost always have problems with the overlays dropping behind videos or not ever popping up at all , almost never do they even remotely work “out of the box” I always have to use puppackeditor and adjust settings to “force on” or “forcepop” and then a lot of times I have to bumble through the triggers section and change certain screens and such ….. don’t get me wrong I almost always get them working pretty good , but it takes me several hours of fumbling through settings for each table. My question is is this common ? If so that’s fine , I just want to make sure I’m not doing all this extra unnecessary work if I just have something messed up or am missing something …. I always go through the bat files and try different ones , I always “unlock” the zip files , all of the common things I see people say , I do , but still even with tables that have a specific “desktop.bat” file , even those ones still usually have problems even though usually less on those ones …. Do I maybe have a setting messed up or something ? Any help would be great , thanks !
Cliffy Posted January 11 Posted January 11 A couple hints and tips since you're a single screen desktop user, like me. ONLY use the DX version of vpx, never GL. Only directx allows multiple active windows on a single screen ALWAYS use Windowed Fullscreen mode in your vpx preferences. Exclusive fullscreen also doesn't allow multiple windows ALWAYS make sure you have PuPDesktopPunch.exe and pupinit.bat in each game's pupvideo folder If a pup pack doesn't have a desktop option bat I nearly always use an option for 3 screens and then tailor the pinupplayer.ini till it looks how I like. Rename or delete any directb2s (b2s) as the majority of pup packs do not like a b2s running in the same space. Tom & Jerry and Wizard of Oz are two exceptions I know of, however. Here's more help from @NailBuster wiki regarding desktop; https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=pup_desktop
Jickskidwell Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Holy crap! Thank you sooooo much ! These tips helped me so much , when I saw your reply I ran to my setup to try em out hahaha specifically that pupinit files fix seems to have made a WOrLD of difference , two very problematic tables I’ve had it almost instantly fixed …. Can’t thank you enough! Now I’m gonna have a hard time balancing my attention between playoff football and fixing pinball machines all night hahaha
