Hi all,

Recently I'd noticed that a couple of tables (Avatar, Captain Spaulding and Game of Thrones particularly, but others as well), were not displaying their DMD in VR.

They HAD been working previously, and it was one those cases of "What the hell did I change since I last played these tables?"

I went over and over in my head what I might have changed (as my setup is pretty nice and stable, I don't usually change the config of anything much).

Eventually it dawned on me that I had taken my VR rig to my local pinball parlour where we were having a tournament, as there are quite a few folks there interested to see just what the VR gameplay was like. Remember these are pretty hardcore "real" pinball players who were a bit dubious about how much lag, and how playable the VR setup is. Suffice to say, they were mostly highly impressed with VPX in VR mode using Basti's excellent launcher. There may well be some new converts to the VPX/VR world in the coming months.

Anyhoo, getting a bit sidetracked there, but the upshot was, in the arcade, I hooked my PC up to a spare TV so non-players could see the VR view (sort of - you know what I mean, nothing like being "inside" VR).

I changed the preview window to fullscreen on the TV to maximise the view for other folks.

That's what borked the DMD working! As soon as I switched my preview screen setting in the VPX VR Settings (from full screen 3840 x 2160 to 2160 x 2160 on a 4K TV), DMDs worked again.

BTW - I have also found issues with Backglass / DMD if you have your screen scaling in Windows set to anything other than 100%. It just seems to cause lots of weirdness. I know this is mentioned elsewhere, but it still catches me out occasionally, as I have to switch to 200% scaling to read the 4K TV screen (yes, even with glasses on!).

Just putting this out there in case someone else is tearing their hair out.

Best regards

Robert
