After a while flippers (keys) are not responding

Hi, 

I posted this question also at VPForums before finding this forum. Please help:

The last year, I think, and also after reinstalling my virtual pinball machine last month, I have had a problem with input not responding after some minutes of playing (e.g., flippers/coin, etc.).

After some reinstalls and a lot of trying, I'm sure that the cause of the flipper stuck/not responding input always occurs after installing and activating DOF.

Tried different global configs, also with an increased command interval (20ms), nothing helps.

It seems like the games in the '86 version with increased command interval will delay the occurrence (I can play a few balls), but sooner or later the keys/flippers are not responding.

Also, a keyboard will not respond at that moment. I tried playing only with the keyboard, but also then the flippers get stuck.

It's after a minute or so of playing, but not always at the same moment. Also with different tables (Flinstones, Addams Family, Cactus Canyon).

 

Does someone have a clue?

Before installing the DOF framework, the games were running without any errors, VPX 64 and 86 versions.

I used the installers for installing VPX and also installed the latest stable versions of VPINMAME and B2S.

 

I have one LEDwiz with some lights and contactors. And a zebboard with plungers for input.
I don't see any maxed out resources in the task manager of windows (bought a middle class game pc a few weeks ago).


I see some exception warnings in the direct output log (before the actual game is loading). Does that make sense to someone?

I shot in the wild here. I have a cab, with some zeb' hardware. Pacled though instead of Ledwiz. I can't recall seeing exceptions like yours in my logs. One thing I did a long time ago was to buy me a cheap usb2.0 hub and change some setting in bios for the usb port(s). But, since then, actually only a couple of months back. I replaced the main computer MB and CPU. Basically, everything, except GPU that I did replace last x-mas. I kept most external equipment like they where before. So, the DOF signals is still going through this hub, but, I have not re-visited the bios.

 

I guess it is a very long shot in the dark. And I'm sorry. I'm no DOF expert that can tell you if those exceptions matter much or not. Just giving you .. something to try, in case every other attempt fails.

Not likely those exceptions in your log have anything to do with your problem. You can start out playing the game and your dof works and then it just dies for the flippers but the flippers still go up and down in the game

No the flippers and other buttons don’t react at all. So continue playing is not possible for a while mostly a couple of seconds. They stay in the position it was when the problem starts. So sometimes up sometimes down. And then after a while it works again, untill the next glitch, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check an EM table.
What I figured out is that it has something to do with DOF and the LEDWiz.
Because when I pull the plug in the middle of a game, the problem does not arise (but no DOF, of course), so I think maybe it's a hardware defect somehow.

Tried Ledblinky; all the outputs are firing, but when I am at port 6, (activating the ports automatically), it auto-skips through a lot of ports.

That's strange behavior, I think.

I have a Raspberry Pi PICO laying around; maybe I will try to replace the LEDWiz for that one.

A few less ports, but it's better to have nothing, I think. It's too expensive to buy another LEDWiz when not knowing for sure it solves the problem.
I will keep you posted when I have a solution ...
