tabqwerty Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 I want to make a VPX table of the Netflix series "The Sandman" (that's based on the graphic novel by Neil Gaiman, who also directs the show). How long should I expect it to take me to make, how much do I need to know how to code with Visual Basic, can I rely on AI at all, and will I run into any legal issues using this (or any) IP? I figure for making the code, it should be easy enough to use clips from the show and tracks from its OST as long as I'm allowed to. Oh, and anyone is welcome to help out if they're interested in The Sandman or Constantine/Hellblazer universes (I have plans to make one about John Constantine as well).

No offense, but this sounds a bit like you dont know what lies before you. Videoclips for a puppack and chosing music for a table is in fact the easiest part. Have you ever looked at a tables code of a JP or VPW original table and know whats going on coding rules, lighting and so on? My guess is, take half a year off at least (if you can afford to quit your job, other hobbies, family, eating, sleeping, breathing.) Maybe start with modding an existing rom based table and see how far you can get. Nevertheless, its possible, ive did it myself (being 85% happy with the result), without knowing much about coding at all and without the help of an AI, whatever you expect of it.
SixOfTwelve Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Sandman was one of the formative comic books of my teenage years, and although the whole recent Gaiman situation has put a great damper on things, the franchise still holds a place in my heart. I'm curious to see what you make of it. Likewise for Hellblazer. (Frankly, I have a feeling that John Constantine's mercurial character would be better suited to the pinball theme than staid and stuffy Morpheus, but hey, it's your table. Just make sure it's Constan-tyne, not Constan-teen, and we're good 😉)
