[SOLVED ]Very weird issue when switching audio output from 7.1 USB soundcard to internal Headphones output... cannot figure it out

Hi guys,

I can't get past this sound issue, which is the last bit I need to solve before my vpin is fully functional...

Here is the deal :

I am using a 7.1 usb soundcard which works great.

I need to be able to play with headphones in the evening, so I am also using the onboard Realtek audio, only with the headphones jack.

I have both soundcards enabled in the system (WIN11).

Typical situation 1 : I am playing a table (or I am in Pinup Popper menu), and I want to switch from USB 7.1 card to Realtek Stereo output.

--> As soon as I switch, all sounds are correctly rerouted to the realtek card, EXCEPT for the front and back SSF exciters (BAckglass  sound ok,  windows sounds ok, but rear and front exciters sound still rund through the USB 7.1 soundcard

Same when reversed: If I select headphones output directly upon starting WIndows, then when I play a table, all sound come from the Reamtek AUdio Headphoines output, but when I switch to the USB 7.1 soundcard, then the rear and front exciters soounds still play in Realtek headphones output.

Basically, when switching audio output, SSR rear and front exciters never switch. they remain where they were before.

This is strange, since switching audio output  should reroute all signals from one audio output to the other.

Has anybody seen this before ?

Any clue on how to solve this ?

Thanks for your help !

Cheers

Thanks @deadmanworking.

I did set both effects and backglass sound to the same sound device.

After hours of fiddling, I finally found that you need to restart pinup popper to "fully" switch audio to another device.

Switching within popper without restarting it will always switch backglass sound only and leave the ssf sounds playing on current device.

Sounds crazy, don't ask why, but it is 100% reproducible, no matter the method you use to switch device (windows sound settings panel, command line, 3rd party tools, etc)

You MUST restart popper to make it work.

So I created batch files that switch audio device and then restart popper, and I put these in the custom scripts section in Popper operator menu.

Works great, I am a happy Vpinner now :)

(If anybody is interested, I can write a short tuto on how I did this using a great tool called SoundVolumeView.)

Cheers
