Some helpful tips for your VP project you might not have thought of...

I thought I'd offer up some things I do that have made my Virtual Pinball project a whole lot more manageable and fun...

1) I have RustDesk installed on my vpin. This enables me to remote into it and do whatever I need to do, from wherever I am, even from my smartphone. I find that I get far more done this way than if I was only able to do it when physically near the cabinet.

2) I started a Google Docs spreadsheet of the tables I have on my vpin, to keep everything organized and up-to-date as best I can. It includes assorted useful info, along with a Notes field to use as a reminder for any outstanding issues I haven't resolved. And because it's web-based, I can access it on any device and update as needed.

3) This last one might be obvious to some, but I like to use topper videos on my score display screen in the Popper frontend, rather than DMD videos. I find that they give the UI a bit more pop. I also like to use https://www.audioremover.com/ to strip the audio out of them as needed, usually to prevent sounds clashing.

I'd also like to take a sec and give HUGE thanks to the whole vpin community. The amount and quality of work done is absolutely mind-blowing. I've been enjoying virtual pinball since the early 2000s, and it astounds me how far the hobby has come since then. My Twilight Zone cabinet isn't anything fancy compared to some of the amazing creations I see around here, but everyone I've shown my vpin to has had the exact same reaction: "WHA? This is a thing?! HOW? This is amazing! How many games are on this? REALLY? Whoa." 🤣 And I have you all to thank for the awesomeness. Incredible stuff.
