Hi,

I bought some modules to use with pin2dmd and it seems I was deceived. The seller said it was compatible, and when I received the product and installed it, only half of the display works. ad has a photo of the display pin2dmd.

Now I'm having trouble returning them to the seller and through the platform. Has anyone else experienced this?

The seller insists that it is compatible, but I have never bought a module of this model. It seems different to me.

I had a module from another supplier and it worked normally.

I'll send a photo of the back of the module to see if it's still possible to use them.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Edit: what Pin2dmd version is that? It looks different to an EVO and may have something going on there. I wasn't going to suggest a different ribbon cable due to the nature of how these are connected, but I see a header to the right of the screens, so definitely try swapping the ribbon cable that connects the first display panel to the Pin2dmd (not the one joining the 2 displays to each other).

What trouble shooting steps have you done so far?

You can try:

Swap the first and second panel around. The first panel connector may have a faulty connector and whatever is received will be passed through to the second panel. While unlikely both panels have the same fault, it is worth checking. Then what you may see is a full screen on panel 1 (right) and half on panel 2 as the input of the second panel would still have the fault. If this is the case, you can then use a DMM to check if there are any bad solder joins to the pins above Lucky mentioned.

If that doesn't solve it and you have a set of verified working panels try them on the same Pin2DMD. If that also fails it could be the PCB, so try another Pin2DMD pcb. There could be an issue with the connector on there.

There are other things you can try, but there is also the chance that the actual display pcb has a different pinout for the RGB1 pins?

Good luck with it

Thanks,

Andrew

Thank you very much for your feedback!

I'll try to better explain the procedures adopted to demonstrate that this isn't a problem with the PIN2DMD PCB, but rather something related to the LED modules purchased from this vendor.
I purchased around 8 to 10 modules, and I mounted them on different PCBs, and they all had the same problem (the LEDs only light up on the top of the modules).
Since I had a module from another vendor that I wasn't using because some LEDs had been damaged, I decided to connect this module from the other vendor next to one of the purchased modules on a PCB. The result is what I'm sending in the photo...the LED module from the other vendor works normally, but the module I purchased doesn't work correctly.

Just to clarify, this is a pcb shield.
So, I placed both modules side by side to check the back and see if there are any differences. I noticed some details, but I can't say if this has anything to do with the malfunction.
The module that doesn't work doesn't have the HUB75 description on its PCB, like the other vendor's. I also noticed that, in this module, the flat cable connector is slightly offset downwards and there are no white identification arrows on the PCB, only the identification of the upward arrow which is in the part where the module screws are located.

So, I've sent a photo of the back of both models so you can see the difference.
The problem is that the seller is adamant that the LEDs work with PIN2DMD, and I'm trying to solve the problem so I don't incur this loss.
But I'm sure there's something wrong with these modules, otherwise it would work just as well.
Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pinout could potentially be HUB75E or a different chipset on the board that isn't compatible. Lucky would be better to answer about different chipset support but I know there is a jumper to change the chipset support I think. Not sure if that would have any affect on this though.

Edit: It also has 16S on the working panels and 32S on the non working, this could also make a difference.

Thank you, Terranigma.

Can you tell me where I can find one to better understand this jumper so I can try to use it?
Or will these modules just end up as scrap for me?
I opened a dispute to return the parts, but I'm not sure I'll get a favorable decision, as the seller is claiming it's compatible even though I've demonstrated the problem.

It seems that these are 1/32 scan panels which aren´t supported. Only 1/16 scan is supported !!

Make sure that you end up with panels which have 1/16 scan and HUB75 pinout since this is the only type currently supported by PIN2DMD for 128×32 displays.
