dzorbas Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Has anyone had any issues with the 128x16 displays freezing up shortly after powering up the pin or after hitting the reset? The display is installed in a Hook pin. We have manually set the device mode to make sure that isn't part of the issue. We tried running it with and without the memory card. Exactly the same result. I had 4.53 installed on the display and we tried to revert back to an older version, 4.50, which seemed to brick the display. The display will power up but will not even display the PIN2DMD logo. We'll have to go through the process to get the firmware reinstalled properly. Here's a video of what is happening - Any assistance or advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Dino Z.
Content Provider lucky1 Posted June 27, 2025 Content Provider Posted June 27, 2025 All I can say that it seems to not be getting any usefull data from the DataEast Controller part on the right side of the back on the pin2dmd pcb. The only thing that changed on that side is the Zilog Z84C00 becoming end of life last year https://www.mouser.com/PCN/Littelfuse_PCN_Z84C00.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOooQrc9gJPyzAx8Y1X5VGxo4cRp4GvobZ12llV4dz5zvymIrN_go What is your source for those processors. Which type is used ? You can also try to use a separate 12V power supply for the pin2dmd since the most common source of DataEast/Sega problems is the onboard power not beeing very reliable When does it freeze ? In attract mode ? Is it reproducecable ? I own a DataEast Checkpoint and could install the Hook Roms for testing if it freezes in attract mode.
