PhartusMcBlumpkin Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Hey, this is a universal topic since anyone wanting FlexDMD is affected. For over a month now the latest release of FlexDMD https://github.com/vbousquet/flexdmd/releases is showing as having viruses and Windows will not let me/others install it. There's a couple of reddit threads about it and those more informed than me have run it through some virus checkers and it's undetermined if the viruses are real or a misidentification by Windows. Either way, not worth taking a chance. Does anyone have any ideas on where to get a clean copy of this?
RabidUrko Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 (edited) All clear here with Norton, however Gridinsoft antimalware claims there is a trojan in the zip. Its probably a false positive quite frankly. Saying that i just tried some past releases downloads and they are all clear. Well spotted. Maybe someone official could shed some light. PhartusMcBlumpkin Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 Thanks for checking and there is an issues report on the github https://github.com/vbousquet/flexdmd/issues/64 , but no resolution yet. I've upgraded to the latest VPX, Pinmame and the latest FlexDMD is required so I have several newer tables that crash upon start with older versions of FlexDMD. Bummer. Hopefully a fix comes soon.
Content Provider xenonph Posted June 25, 2025 Content Provider Posted June 25, 2025 After downloading new version... Are you able to right click on the FlexDMD.exe and go to Properties, and see if it says "Unblock".. this file came from another computer?
Tikimaster Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 I have checked the zip and the files it contains. There is no problem. It is a false positive, I think. Make an exception in your AV program or use another one.
PhartusMcBlumpkin Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 (edited) Yeah, I've unblocked, etc. but Windows won't let it install as is. I went through the process of allowing it in Windows security,,just following Windows prompts so don't have a list of instructions. After that, and running scans, it still said there are serious viruses in the file but was able to download and install. Hopefully all good. Definitely needs clean up on the github side.
