Can I put left & right RGB flipper LEDs on separate DOF outputs?

For flipper button inputs DOF offers separate left & right but for RGB LED outputs DOF seems to offer only one output which I guess assumes a splitter feeding one output to the LEDs on the two flipper buttons. Unfortunately, I don't have a splitter but I do have extra RGB LED output ports on my PinOne Mini. So I plugged the Flipper RGBs into two different RGB LED output ports. The RGB LEDs on both flippers light properly when I test their respective outputs in the PinOne config tool.  However, when running VPX tables in DOF it doesn't seem to work as I'd hoped because the second button remains dark. Ideally, I'd prefer to keep the option to give the left and right flipper buttons different colors or behaviors (since I have extra outputs anyway).

I'm new to DOF so it's possible I'm misunderstanding how it's intended to work.
