Managing Flipper Solenoid Behavior

What are people who use starter solenoids doing when the flipper is held down for a length of time? 

 

I am using zebsboard ezinstall kit, it has a watch dog timer so it shuts power off to the solenoid if they are activated for a long period of time,I have to exit vpx and run the timer reset to bring turn the solenoids back online

 

Can the flipper solenoids be changed from 

firing and holding in DOF if I press and hold the flipper button, 

to the solenoid is fire and released even if the flipper button stays held?

I wonder why your hardware was not made to reset it's self when you let go of the Button
