Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but on file downloads pages I noticed "Allow file to be included on a VPUniverse downloader app?"

Is this a magical thing that I missed somewhere that will fill my life with joy?

It's for a future project, but eventually everything will be there.  If I can pull it off, it will fill all VPU members life with joy.  Trying to bring us out of the dark ages, while keeping community. May take a while as I'm learning as I go...

Well that's pretty sweet, good luck with that project. Managing tables, versions, addons and media assets is definitely a bit of a headache.

For me, that managing is part of the fun. Anyone can hoard a bunch of data; the fun is selecting the tables one really likes and the version of that table that suits the player best.

Yes, I think minting and making your collection is very important. I keep only specific authors on my main lists.

There really is no need for anyone to hoard everything that's ever released, unless it's for other possible devious reasons. I know the fear of loosing a site, such as this would be devastating to the community.

I'm also into arcade/console emulation and have been since MAME 0.01 when it supported 5 games. I was amazed to be able to play actual PacMan and one I hadn't played for years LadyBug on an old work acquired 386 PC and running perfectly. I now have a 6TB hard drive solely for the ENTIRE MAME build but only update every 2 or 3 months as it takes forever to update the torrents and files and my seedbox for MAME. Anyway, do I play every game on MAME, no chance but like the ability to. Do I play the 1310 VPX tables I have, nope but some were a real pain to get hold of and had to be scoured from various sources as authors decided to pull them for whatever reasons. I have them all because I can, not included my 12TB hard drive that's rammed full of console and computer emulation via CoinOps

TOSEC is an ideal example, why have nearly 2000 Atari 2600 ROM dumps of just games. Every single possible ROM dump of each country, language, beta, prototype, modded, etc, etc. Hoarding or preservation

I wonder why people have an entire dedicated room or even entire floor in a house stacked wall to ceiling with every possible console EVER and every single game for each console duplicated countless times

We have a local arcade club not too far, FREE gameplay with one fixed entry price on three floors rammed full of pinball and arcade machines, a lot are very rare and very old and Japanese arcade games you'll NEVER get to play outside Japan. Its packed every day its open

Because we can. More obsession than hobby, but I still prefer 1960's pinball machines over modern ones

I've paused my current development for a little while... My ADHD is really bad, I get bored with projects and jump to something else.  I'm actually almost done with my side-project and about to release it. Once I do that then I'll get back to working on VPU2.0.
