W33D1X Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 (edited) I've spent several days searching for answers and it's down to asking for help. Some tables load and show the appropriate downloaded or created loading screen just fine. Other tables continue to show this "Powered by VPinMAME" splash screen over the top of these loading screens. I'm pretty new so hopefully this is just a new guy asking a dumb question. I'm running vpx 10.8 A few of the games in question are Austin Powers, Batman (89 variant), Beach Bums, Family Guy, Godzilla, The Walking Dead. I have seen some people saying that cabinet mode has to be enabled. Being unable to find an option for that I have attempted to add code to the ini for a couple of the games pov settings but with no successful outcome. - [General] splash=0 - cabinet_mode=1 - These were placed in "ini" files for pinmame, individual vpx game files, and also an entry for the vpx.exe. the pinmame.ini and vpx.ini were manually created. Anybody have any idea what the heck I'm missing? UPDATE: There was a problem originally with "squishing" of the load screens. This was dealt with by loading blanks (t-arc blank) into the loading section of the media manager for a given game. The desired loading screen was then pasted in and added to the list with the "3" option to display it on the playfield. This is how the loading screens were initially allowed to display but i was getting the "powered by vpinmame" splash. I found that after editing those .ini files I was able to delete entirely all files in the "loading" section of the media manager, and replace them with the desired load page. This did fix the problem, however, in making this change I have discovered that for whatever reason, blacks are behaving strangely. When I play the "loading" video in any media player, the blacks appear as expected. No idea about how to fix this. It's pretty weird to me that it's even happening. attached is an example. deadmanworking Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 Cabinet mode can be enabled by hitting F1 key after loading the table and checking the box titled "cabinet mode".

Thank you for your response. That does work on some tables but not on others. Edited May 5, 2025 by W33D1X
deadmanworking Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 @W33D1X try going into your VPinMAME directory and run Setup64.exe and/or Setup.exe, then choose "Setup defaults" and check that box there as well:
W33D1X Posted May 6, 2025 Author Posted May 6, 2025 Again, thank you for your response. This certainly does allow me to change to cabinet mode, and it's very nice to have it be global rather than an individual setting per table. This change did not help with the awkward blacks or the "powered by vpinmame" splash... ... however, this does seem to solve a different problem I was having with backglass appearing over the table. It may have been something else, i'm not sure.
deadmanworking Posted May 7, 2025 Posted May 7, 2025 Which frontend are you using? And by "blacks behaving strangely" what exactly do you mean, are they transparent? Hard to tell from your screenshots.
W33D1X Posted May 17, 2025 Author Posted May 17, 2025 thanks for responding. Yeah sorry about that. They were transparent. i should have realized I wasn’t being clear. what happened was I had a vpx install then mistakenly installed with pinup popper baller installer over it instead of deleting the first install. once I uninstalled everything and started over, it’s been pretty smooth sailing.
