griffindodd Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 (edited) Pin Rig info. Software: VPX 10.8 GL, VPinMAME 3.6, B2S 2.1.3, FlexDMD 1.9.1, Freezy 2.3.1, Pinup Popper 1.5 Cabinet: PF: Sony X85K 4k 100hz Portrait, BG/FullDMD: 1080p LCD, Topper: UHD LCD Computer: Ryzen9 5900X, 64GB DDR4, RTX 4080 Super, NVME, Win 11 I am seeing pretty wild display driver crashes when loading games from Pinup Popper. I have x32 and x64 builds working and loading pups and games. Most games settle down when you let them finish loading but it certainly seems very unstable getting there. Many games on loading, and also sometimes during gameplay crash the video driver to a black screen for 3-4 seconds which is of course enough to drain a ball. Updated to latest NVidia Game Ready drivers but issue remains. The crashing seems to be related to video playback. When I run the tables without pup packs or popper I have no issues. Has anyone else had this and worked out where the instability is coming from? Edited April 19, 2025 by griffindodd
griffindodd Posted May 11, 2025 Author Posted May 11, 2025 Just to follow up on this. My issue was actually an overheating DisplayPort to HDMI cable. Running at 4k 100fps was torching the inline converter. Managed to switch to a 8k rated hdmi cable, no conversion and it’s running even faster now at 120hz 4k and it’s rock solid. you live and learn.
