Martafix Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Hi, I'm new to VPX and I'm planning to build a Vpin cabinet. I'm installing all the software to test before build it, but I have some problems to resolve and understand. I've installed baller_installer and updated it following all how-to videos, so all the screens are configured in windows correctly. My problem is that when I play a table and I press F12 I see that the 'windows layout mode' is 'Window' and not 'Legacy': if I change it to 'Legacy' the table will than rotate. What can I do to have it in legacy mode and see the playfield in the correct cabinet mode? In windows the screen is configured as 'Landscape', in VPX ( I use VPinballX_GL64.exe) under video properties it is setted as 'excusive fullscreen' and resolution is correct and 'View mode' is 'Cabinet'. Any help will be very appreciated! Thanks
DanLShane Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 You probably want to learn how to configure your tables to use WINDOW mode rather than LEGACY. The point-of-view is much more realistic and it's the only way to get true 3D effects and layers if you choose to try that. To get WINDOWS mode looking right on a cabinet you need to enter your playfield dimensions one time in the VPX editor (The more accurate you are with this step the easier your POV tweaking will be). Then for each table just use the F12 menu to select WINDOW, press the FIRE button on your cab to orient the playfield correctly and tweak your XYZ numbers a bit to suit the individual table. Now press START to save the configuration. Once you have done a couple of tables you will find it easy to adjust the view on all of your games quickly.
Martafix Posted April 11, 2025 Author Posted April 11, 2025 Hi, thanks....I've found a video speaking of that and I have used the 'screen size calibration.exe' to find the correct measures, saved and exported POV in VPinballX_GL64.exe editor. I entered a table to ac-dc table to test but when I press F12 the red notice telling me the screen is not set is already there! If I look at the VPX editor the screen measures are correct as I entered beore. How can I resolve?
DanLShane Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 The area circled in red is where you enter your playfield values. The numbers shown in my example are for my 32" AtGames Legends Pinball HD playfield.
Martafix Posted April 11, 2025 Author Posted April 11, 2025 I've set similar values for my LG 32'' playfield, but when I start a table and press F12 to setup the POV I've always the red notice telling me that the screen is not set.
deadmanworking Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 @Martafix this keeps coming up for me on random tables as well, setting the POV according to the stored values with the plunger key (and then adjusting) still works as expected though.
coops27 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 What is better for performance? Window or exclusive fullscreen 3 screen setup?
