IAmtheCzar Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Hi all, I have exhausted my efforts to resolve this. My LEDs were working fine. At some point they stopped, I believe it may have been after a Pinscape Firmware update. The Teesnsy3.2/Octo is connected, the computer sees it, I've reloaded the Teensey Strip controller, on reboot it does a light test... In the Arduino software it lists a COM1 and a USB , my Cabinet.xml says COM4. My log file says COM4 not found (makes sense, I don't show a COM 4). If I change the Cabinet file to COM 1, I get exception errors. Here is an overview of all the current settings. Thought I'd start with this as I don't think the Cabinet and Global xml files are that helpful. Again, it was working just fine, until it wasn't. I'm pretty sure the issue is the Com port, and I've not found anyone else having this issue. All advice appreciated.
chonk_master Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Go into device manager and click the usb device that represents your controller. One of the tabs will show what com port windows assigned it and it should allow you to change it via a dropdown.
IAmtheCzar Posted March 7, 2025 Author Posted March 7, 2025 Thanks. If I switch to the container view of the Device Manager, I can see the TeensyDuino, and it's connected and working. None of the components allow me to change the COM port. I should add that when the computer boots up, or if I unplug and replug the Teensy, it runs a color test, so the computer sees it. When I switch to View Hidden, there's a Unknown and unconnected USB device and the location says Port_#0004 - which, if that corresponds to my missing COM4 could be the issue... but it won't let me update the driver. So I removed it... no change. The USB Device under the Teeny says it is Port_#0005, I rebooted hoping it would reassign the port, but no luck.
IAmtheCzar Posted March 7, 2025 Author Posted March 7, 2025 Also, attempted to reassign COM1 to COM4, but it says COM4 (InUse) and is unavailable... AND, I can't find any device that is using COM4, Hidden or otherwise.
