WhySoSyrius Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Hey guys, for about two weeks my VPX has been stuttering when the light is flickering. For example, Attack from Mars, if you hit the UFO, the frame rate drops and stutters immediately. WCS94 has become unplayable. I run the VPIN with a notebook. The notebook display is deactivated, I switch the monitors on beforehand, everything on Full HD and Playfield on 144hz. AMD Ryzen 7-8845HS RTX4060 8GB 16GB DDR5 2TB M2 NVME Pcie4 I have been using this notebook with the Popper installer since I built the pin in November 2024. I updated VpinMame to the latest version, turned the graphics down completely and also up to maximum, changed resolutions, tried OPEN_GL which made it a little better but it is still unplayable. I am a bit at the end of my knowledge and hope to get this one tip here.
AnTiBoDy Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 I had the same issue with some tables. I found out that some tables work better on the 32-bit version, while others perform better on the 64-bit version of VPX. I can also give you a tip to try using a different backglass version for a pinball table, as that can sometimes help as well. Alternatively, check if there’s a static backglass available (one without blinking lights), as that can significantly reduce FPS drops. I hope this information helps you out. Good luck!
WhySoSyrius Posted January 9, 2025 Author Posted January 9, 2025 Backglas off, same issue. Downgrade Driver, same issue... Iam running out of ideas
AnTiBoDy Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Have you already tried ticking 'disable lighting' in the VPX settings? That can sometimes help as well.
AnTiBoDy Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 I have slightly lower specs than your PC; I’m playing with a GTX 1080 Ti, so it should run fine on your system. Which version of VPX are you using?
WhySoSyrius Posted January 10, 2025 Author Posted January 10, 2025 (edited) Iam Using 10.8 64bit which comes with the Popper Installer. Where do i disable lightning? Directly in the properties video menu? EDIT: Nope, changes nothing Edited January 10, 2025 by WhySoSyrius
WhySoSyrius Posted January 10, 2025 Author Posted January 10, 2025 Okay i also tried to assign specific cores to VPX... nothing I tried every machine, also machines where i knew they runned so smooth, but nope unplayable when the flashing starts... I think i will reinstall everything from scratch.
WhySoSyrius Posted January 12, 2025 Author Posted January 12, 2025 Okay i reinstalled Windows completely, now it is working again.
